Notes: This was Baked Shrimp’s 6th Annual Halloween Extravaganza. The band’s surprise theme this year was “The Blues Brothers.” The performance contained narration from Jared telling a storyline that crossed the 1980 Blues Brothers movie with “The Ghost and the Ghoul.” Jared was dressed as Jake Blues a.k.a “The Ghost.” Scott was dressed as Elwood Blues a.k.a “The Ghoul.” Jager was dressed as “Mini the Moocher.” The special guests a.k.a “the band” dressed in outfits correlated to Baked Shrimp’s past Halloween themes. Neal Spitzer (Saxophone) introduced as David “Sax” Hubbins, Shaun Bazylewicz (Trombone) introduced as Shaggy Bones, Rebecca Coupe-Franks (Trumpet) introduced as Trumpety Q, June Bug (Harmonica) introduced as Bryce “Harp”er. Show began without Jared and Scott on stage as a Cab Calloway impression sample introduced the Blues Brothers, Jared and Scott proceeded to walk out and greet the audience over “I Can’t Turn You Loose.” The storyline goes that “The Ghost” and “The Ghoul” are actually Jake and Elwood Blues. This year on their annual Halloween jewel heist they were ordered by their Gopher god to steal the world’s largest rubber biscuit from the Sweet Home Chicago museum worth $5 million, in order to save the St. Richard Dickson Turkson’s Home for Shrimps. The band encountered various twist and turns such as “chicken wire” where chicken wire was brought out during “Theme from Rawhide” and the crowd threw souvenir beer bottle props at it, the chicken wire was also prematurely brought out during “Dirt Road.” The band successfully stole the rubber biscuit (prop brought out during “Rubber Biscuit”) and proceeded on their way to their gig in Albany until they ran out of gas (which was signified at the end of “Pig Hearts and Mechanical Parts). Jake refueled the Blues Mobile in a narrow escape from the cops. The band made it to the gig but was escorted off the stage by police during “Sweet Home Chicago” after Mini the Moocher, their drummer ratted them out to authorities. Jared, Scott, and Jager performed the encore in “Albany County Jail” outfits.
